1962 Chevrolet C10 Pickup Truck

Spotted this Chevy C10 pickup street parked in a quiet neighborhood.  The first generation C10 had a mid cycle update during 1963/1964.  It is easy to distinguish between the earlier and the later 1st generation C10’s by the windshield. This first generation C10 has a windshield that wraps around and slants towards the rear. The later half of this generation has a windshield that does not wrap around as much, and finishes with a slant towards the front.  Take a look at this 1965 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup we spotted a few months ago to look at the subtle difference. Enjoy

April 19′ – End of Month Hodgepodge

Another month has come and gone – but the posts and car spottings have not.  We will honor the forsaken time with an end of month hodgepodge, as is ritual at LACS.  Spring has sprung and the car community is abuzz in the Southland.  Cars are making their way to meets and the smell of petrol is in the air. When the tranquility of spring settles in for myself, prepare for a bounty of posts and car spottings. Enjoy.

1965 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup

Spotted this lovely mid 1960’s Chevy C/K series pickup truck street parked in a quiet neighborhood of Los Feliz. It appears that the truck has had some body work recently performed. Perhaps the next step is the paint! Regardless of paint, you cannot help but be drawn in by the sheet metal and the classic styling from General Motors in the 1960’s. Enjoy!

October ’18 – End of Month Hodgepodge

Happy end of October! Another month has concluded and with it, the LACS hodgepodge makes it’s appearance.  Yet again, this one is light because of the wedding.

This month, we only posted 2 car spottings.  One was a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo cloaked in black and sporting excellent chrome wheels; a perfect match. We also saw a 1970 Cadillac DeVille – man are those big cars.

Enjoy this and look forward to even more next month!

1972 Chevrolet C10 pickup (CK Chassis)

Spotted another Chevy draped in blue on the same block as the 1969 Chevy Impala the other day.  By the looks of it, this Chevy C10 Pickup has been recently repainted and restored.  Even the chrome was in great shape! Almost look as if it came off the showroom floor.  And it has some of my favorite period wheels; the moonie style wheels! Enjoy

1960 Chevy C-10 Fleetside Pickup

Spotted another Chevy pickup truck, very similar to the Apache we featured not long ago.  This one has been nicely restored with fresh paint and a healthy dose of lowering.  I have read that these C/K pickups from 1960 were also called “Apache” but I’m unsure. Instead of the term “fleetside”, to indicate a flat bedside, Chevrolet used the term “wide-side” to indicate the same thing to buyers, according to Wikipedia.  I like this and I’ve always been intrigued by classic pickup trucks.  However, I don’t think I could daily drive one.  Would you buy an old truck?

1958 Chevy Apache Pickup Truck

Take a gander at this “purposefully worn-down” 1958 Chevy Apache Pickup. What a cool name for a cool truck – the Apache. Although, to give an American truck the name of an Indian tribe seems a bit of a hypocrisy on Chevrolet’s part. None-the-less, this amazing example of late 1950’s styling does not escape my lens (I’m finally bringing out the “real” camera again). It has custom wooden bed sill slats with “F.K.O Garage” painted on the side.  I’ve researched this name but I could not come up with any results.

End of Year Hodgepodge – 2017 Finale

Well that’s a wrap to the 2017 car spotting year. It’s been a fun year and we have spotted tons of cool cars and trucks.

This is the hodgepodge of all hodgepodges.  Thanks for following along and I’ll see you in 2018 for another fantastic year!

1967 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup Truck

Something must be said about the subdued nature of old work trucks.  It is in their utilitarian “blood” to be used, abused and receive snarling glances from passer-bys.  This C-10 Chevy is one of those examples.  Tattered and torn, this truck shows the tell-tale signs of age, use and probably a little neglect.  But as it is parked on the street, I assume that 327 under the hood still puts the ponies to the pavement.
