It’s the end of April and another month of quarantine and solitude has passed. While our view of normality and our social lives have withered, our daily walks and Zoom calls have increased. With all that has happened and will happen, there will always be cars parked on the street 🙂 Enjoy
Spotted another Toyota pickup while on a walk recently. There are so many Toyota pickups of different vintages in Los Angeles that it’s easy to spot one around the neighborhood. This Toyota pickup is the SR5 V6 package and is the last generation before Toyota switched to the ‘Tacoma’ nomenclature in the United States.
After 1976, Toyota’s small trucks didn’t have an official name in the United States, only being referred to as pickup or truck, until it became known as the Tacoma after 1995. To the rest of the world, Toyota Pickups have been and are still known as the Toyota Hilux.

Spotted this Chevy Astro Gemini Conversion van on a walk. When I was younger, I thought that conversion vans were kind of shitty but I now see the appeal. What better way to transport your whole family in comfort and in a reasonable sized package. Also, the paint scheme on these conversion vans are simply amazing. Google C”hevy Astro conversion van” and you will find a ba-gillion different color and pinstripe design combos.
My family used to own a regular non-conversion style Chevy Astro that was a stick shift of all things – I think it was maroon in color. How cool is that. Enjoy
Don’t forget to check out some other sweet vans:
“Looks like a Chrysler” my friend said when I showed him this picture of a 1987 Renault Alliance. I said to him, “yea, it does kind of look like a K platform car”. We’re not totally wrong in thinking this. The Alliance was manufactured and marketed in North America by American Motors Corporation (AMC) – the same company that was contributing to Jeeps development in the 1970’s and 1980’s. AMC has a long and interesting history that started out in the 1950’s – they produced their own vehicles but always had their hands in partnerships and developments during their existence. During a decade of their existence, from the late 1970’s to the late 1980’s, Renault and AMC were intertwined. In a strange string of events, shareholder ownership of AMC was changing hands from Renault to Chrysler at the same time that this 1987 Renault Alliance was hitting the market. Coincidence!>?!>!?!?
Anyway, enjoy some pics of this sweet 1987 Renault Alliance Convertible and don’t forget to check out some other Renault and AMC car’s we’ve spotted:
The month of March has come to a close and what a month it has been. It was a turbulent month, filled COVID-19 panic and non-stop news coverage on the issue. One could say that March Madness takes on a whole new meaning. The president has called for the veil of chaos to be lifted by Easter – some applaud the move and some say it is too early – I tend to agree to the latter. I think we are in this state of existence for the next few months, at least until widespread testing for both the virus and the antibodies becomes readily available. Only time will tell.
I hope that I can continue to spot cars and share with everyone in the coming months. My mobility around Los Angeles county has been limited to my own neighborhood and the occasional trip to the grocery store. In order to keep the content rolling, some cars I spot in the coming months may be a little more mundane.
In the meantime, enjoy this sparse end of month Hodgepodge for March 2020.
Spotted a Dodge Colt Vista while on a walk last month. This “mini” minivan may not be the most exciting vehicle to grace our earth, but I can honestly say that I’ve never seen one in person. It stands out to me as being very practical and compact – LACS approved.
Don’t forget to check out some other Dodge/Plymouth spottings:
Spotted a bright red Chevy C10 pickup truck in Burbank not long ago. This was from a few days ago, when Californian’s were allowed to go outside for leisure (expect other large cities or states to follow this order)! I have a few more spotting pictures in the bank that I’ll post over the next few days to keep us all sane.
Don’t forget to search for your favorite vehicles at the bottom of the web site. Here is a sample of a few C10’s and Silverado’s we have spotted.
Spotted this lovely 2019 Aston Martin Vantage parked near the office last week. Word on the street is that Aston Martin is having some supply line troubles and is greatly reducing the number of vehicles it is producing at the moment. Glad I could find this one out in the world. Couldn’t get a shot of the front because of it’s positioning but the back looks pretty damn sexy! Enjoy.
So, you may have noticed that I have been absent from posting for the past few months. I wish there was some extenuating circumstance that would absolve me from my absence – yet there is not. I have simply been too LAZY to take pictures and post anything new to this site. I think my inaction has left an empty space in my creative consciousness – and I am left wanting to create. So fear not loyal LACS followers, the posts will continue and the pictures will continue to flood in.
We will start with this gorgeous 2019 Acura NSX that was spotted at the parking lot of the Malibu Wine Safari. Enjoy!
Today we have on display, a Alfa Romeo GTV6 that was spotted in LA. This beautiful Alfa looks to be in exceptional condition, sporting some aftermarket rims and a brilliant red paint. The GTV6 sounds great and has great handling for it’s period. And you cannot mistake it’s uniquely Alfa Romeo styling. This car checks a lot of boxes for enthusiasts looking for a somewhat rare, desirable and fun-to-drive car. Enjoy.
Check out some other Alfa’s we’ve spotted:
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!! Dust off the grille and polish up your cooking skills because the sun is out and so are the good times. Today we have a special treat and a guest photographer to help celebrate Memorial Day with us. Ritchie Hann, a good friend of LACS, has a selection of photos from a recent Cars & Coffee trip.
So go out there and have a great Holiday weekend with friends and family – go to a car show if you have the chance. In the meantime, enjoy a few beautiful classic and modern cars courtesy of Ritchie and LACS. Cheers! ♦ ♦♦♦ ♦
