1987 BMW M5

Hello all.  Spotted this lovely BMW M5 that looks like a street car, prepped for racing.  Fitted with a roll cage and some sticky tires, this thing looks ready to attack any track. This was parked near a BMW specific auto garage and tuning garage around Silverlake. They always have awesome cars parked near their place and it’s a great place to go car spotting! Enjoy.

1971 Chevy Nova Sedan

Spotted this vivid off-white Chevy Nova in Silverlake area of Los Angeles on a sun filled walk around the local reservoir.  The sedan’s are not the most sought after Nova’s, but the combination of the color and wheels on this one make it especially appealing.  It’s a shame this otherwise very clean car has had a “love tap” on the rear bumper.  Let’s say it just adds to the character!

1967 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup Truck

Something must be said about the subdued nature of old work trucks.  It is in their utilitarian “blood” to be used, abused and receive snarling glances from passer-bys.  This C-10 Chevy is one of those examples.  Tattered and torn, this truck shows the tell-tale signs of age, use and probably a little neglect.  But as it is parked on the street, I assume that 327 under the hood still puts the ponies to the pavement.

1987 Honda Accord Hatchback

Here we have a 1987 Honda Accord hatchback, the last generation for 30 years.  Honda is now releasing a new 2018 Honda Accord Hatchback.  This is a fitting example of a 3 decade hatchback resurrection.  Are hatchbacks making a comeback? Will station wagons be next?

At its introduction in 1985, it won the Car of the Year Japan Award.
The third generation Accord became the first Honda to employ double wishbones at both the front and rear ends. While more expensive than competitors’ MacPherson strut systems, this setup provided better stability and sharper handling for the vehicle. All had front sway bars and upper models had rear sway bars as well. Brakes were either small all-wheel discs with twin-piston calipers (only available on the Japanese-market 2.0-Si model), larger all-wheel discs with single piston calipers, or a front disc/rear drum system. ABS was available as an option on the 4-wheel disc brake models, though not in North America. Base model Accords rode on 13-inch steel wheels with hubcaps with more expensive models having the option of 14-inch alloy wheels.
The Accord’s available engines varied depending on its market: Japan received the A18A, A20A, B18A, B20A and A20A3; Europe received the A16A1, A20A1, A20A2, A20A3, A20A4, B20A2, and B20A8; Australia received A20A2 and A20A4; other regions received A16A1 and A20A2; while North America received the A20A1 and A20A3. On Accord 1986 model year engine block was marked as BS and BT in USA, BS1 and BT1 in Canada, this cars had chassis code BA. Since 1987 the engine block in Indonesia was marked as NA instead of A20A2. In Japan, the introduction of a 2.0 litre engine obligated Japanese drivers to pay a higher amount of annual road tax compared to the last two previous generations, pushing the Accord into the luxury category in Japan.
The Accord’s trim levels ranged from spartan to luxurious. In the Japanese home market, the Accord was available with a full power package, heated mirrors (optional), a digital instrument cluster (optional), sunroof (optional), cruise control, and climate control (which was also optional). Some North European export models also had heated front seats and head light washers. North American and Australian Accords were not available with most of these options, presumably (and in the U.S. in particular) because Honda was seen as a builder of economy cars, and not to cannibalize sales from the recently introduced Acura line.

Here we have a 1988 Chevy Caprice Classic Station Wagon in great condition.  There is nothing special about the Caprice Classic Wagon’s but I just love wagons! Also, this one is cherry and the blue paint looks great on it. Enjoy!

Mundane Monday – 89′ Sentra Hatchback

This 1989 Nissan Sentra Hatchback is not sought after or highly desirable, nor is it a performance machine worth time on a race track.  Nope, this is about as mundane as it gets.  The 1989 Nissan Sentra Hatchback screams “bleeehhhh” at the top of it’s lungs and is proud of it.  Just look at it – it’s so practical!

I’m not going to even include a link or interesting information about the car because, well… you get it.

1961 Ford Falcon Coupe

Drenched in faded white paint, this Ford Falcon was spotted in Silverlake and screams “daily driver” to us.

The Ford Falcon is an automobile that was produced by Ford from 1960 to 1970 across three generations. It was a sales success for Ford initially, outselling rival compacts from Chrysler and General Motors introduced at the same time.
The Falcon was offered in two-door and four-door sedan, two-door and four-door station wagon, two-door hardtop, convertible, sedan delivery and Ranchero pickup body configurations.
The 1960 Falcon was powered by a small, lightweight 95 hp (70 kW), 144 CID (2.4 L) Mileage Maker straight-6 with a single-barrel carburetor. Construction was unibody, and suspension was fairly standard, with coil springs in front and leaf springs in the rear. Brakes were drum all around. A three-speed manual column shift was standard, and the two-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic was optional. There was room for six passengers in reasonable comfort in the simple interior. Body styles included two- and four-door sedans, two- or four-door station wagons, and the Ranchero car-based pickup, transferred onto the Falcon platform for 1960 from the Fairlane. A Mercury derivative, the Mercury Comet, originally intended for the defunct Edsel marque, was launched in the US midway through the 1960 model year.

1967 Ford Fairlane 500

Spotted this wonderfully old and preserved 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 on the streets around Silverlake in Los Angeles, CA.  The name for this big bodied coupe was derived from Henry Ford’s estate, Fair Lane, near Dearborn, Michigan. Over time, the name referred to a number of different cars in different classes; the Fairlane was initially a full-sized car, but became a mid-sized car from the 1962 model year. The mid-sized model spawned the Australian-built Fairlane in 1967, although in that market it was considered a large car.
