Spotted this very clean Porsche 924 Turbo at the grocery store parking lot the other day. The 924 is a really cool example of VAG stretching it’s legs outside of the 911 market. There were roughly 15,000 of these made worldwide and given the less than stellar reliability of these cars, I’m sure more than a few have found their way to the pick-n-pull yards. It was dark out and I only had my phone with me so the pics are not great!

Here we go, back to the old, somewhat unique, if not mundane cars we’re used to seeing. I am setting a goal this year to photograph a variety of cars that range from classic, vintage vehicles and trucks to modern exotics and just plain cool cars.
Today we have a 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo Estate. Don’t let the turbo emblem fool you, these vehicles were not adrenaline pumping performance machines… no the turbocharger just helped you haul more of your junk up a hill quicker. This example is extremely clean and a perfect time capsule for 80’s automobile finesse. If I owned this car – I would get those plastic trim pieces refreshed and bring back their luster. Enjoy/
So much chrome trim! My camera phone cannot even handle it. It does make for some pretty awesome lens flares in the pictures though. This shining example of a Mercedes-Benz sedan is a 1978-ish 240D Diesel sedan – AKA the indestructible Benz. This one is in great shape on the exterior and absolutely beams in the sun on a cool winter day. Enjoy!

The quick “hyper-car” from Mitsubishi is an all out tuners dream. Turbocharged four-cylinder with AWD and tons of aftermarket support. Loud, fast and abrupt are good descriptors for the AWD Evo X. Enjoy this tastefully modified example. Considering this car is no longer produced in the U.S. , I think the Evo X will become a collectors car 2 decades from now.

Let’s take a moment to thank Subaru for introducing a small SUV with a stick shift and a turbo. Bravo Subaru… bravo.

The second generation was introduced as a 2003 model at the 2002 Chicago Auto Show, based on the new Impreza platform, featuring several fine-tune improvements over the past model. The 2003 Forester features weight-saving refinements such as an aluminum hood, perforated rails, and a hydro-formed front sub-frame. The most noticeable change was the offering of 2.5 L versions (normally aspirated and turbocharged) and in the U.S. the introduction of the turbo charged 2.5L model.
In 2004, the turbocharged XT version was released in the US. However, the same model had been available since the late 1990s elsewhere in the world. The X and XS models feature a 2.5 L SOHC engine, while the XT model features a 2.5 L turbocharged DOHC engine. The XT model uses the same Mitsubishi TD04 turbocharger used in the Subaru Impreza WRX. The engine in the 2004 to 2013 Forester XT is the EJ255.

Spotted this magnificently sans-pigment Alfa Romeo 4C. Often underappreciated, the Alfa Romeo 4C is a true Mid-Engine Sports car.

The Alfa Romeo 4C (Type 960) is a small, lightweight, rear wheel drive sports car. Available in coupé and spider bodystyles, it uses a carbon fiber tub, front and rear crash box, and hybrid rear frame mainly out of aluminium to keep its weight at 895 kilograms (1,973 lb) and 1,050 kilograms (2,315 lb) in the United States. The 4C is the first mass-produced Alfa Romeo car to re-enter into the United States market.
Production of 4C began May 2013 at Maserati’s plant in Modena, with an expected production of up to 2500 units per year. It will be the first mass-produced Alfa Romeo car for re-entry into the US market.
Production of Alfa Romeo 4C was originally estimated to be over 1000 units per year, with an upper limit of 3500 units per year, depending on the quantity of carbon fiber chassis that can be built by the supplier Adler Plastic. Within the 3,500-unit quota, 1,000 units of which are earmarked for Europe.
